Harriet Massamula’s and her newly born baby on the ward at Kitovu Hospital.
Harriet is just one of many women who have gone on to successfully give birth after their surgery.
For mothers like Harriet, who, two years after losing her first baby, has just given birth to a healthy son this support is crucial: “I was so scared because I thought I was going to get the same problem. When I became pregnant I came back and told them about my pregnancy. I was taken to antenatal and I was examined by the midwives and they told when I should come back to have my baby delivered. Now I feel so good and I am so happy.”
